- Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the same college (1999)
- Master’s degree in Genetic Resources from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (2003)
- PhD in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (2009)
After completing her academic training, she has worked as a researcher on funded projects in the fields of genetics, public health, and urban microbiomes. She is currently the national coordinator of the MetaSUB Consortium.

Has authored 70 articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, accumulating over 2,500 citations.

In her entrepreneurial journey, has received awards in innovation programmes such as "ASA" by ANJE and

- Visiting Assistant Professor at CESPU and the University of Porto, where she teaches courses in the field of Forensic Sciences (Forensic Genetics and Forensic Laboratory II).
